faafel

The inspiration for your camping meals doesn't have to come from camping. Most of ours actually come from random things we eat either around San Francisco or while we are traveling.

And during our recent trip to LA's Central Market where we ate some amazing falafel at Madcapra. A thunder bolt struck and we were reminded that falafels are actually pretty portable. And duh we should be eating these delicious balls of protein while we are at the campsite.

Now I wish I could bring the ones in this photo every time. On the other hand, it is actually pretty easy to get your hands on some decent falafel at the grocery store too.

The Grocery List

  • Pre-made falafel balls
  • Sliced pickles
  • Hot hummus
  • Pita bread
  • Tabbouleah salad

We would suggest you take a little oil and warm the pita and the balls. Then slather your bread in hummus and top with the sliced pickles and warmed falafels.

You can also take the approach that you want to pre-make some road-ready noms at home. Here are some great options that would make a tasty meal at home or packed for the road.
